The Journey to Here
My name is Greg Kienast. I am a husband, father and business owner.
My path to here has not been a conventional one, but that’s always been true of my life; not afraid to take on new adventures. I spent 10 years working in advertising for startups and also a big video game company. Prior to that I worked in various capacities in the chemical and life sciences industry. I hold a degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois. My family and I call Naperville, IL our home.
I started Imperia to chase a passion that’s always been with me. Like most tech enthusiasts, it started in my parents’ basement, toying with electronics to figure out how they worked, and wiring and connecting them in new ways to do cool things.
When I purchased my first home, I found a new sandbox to play in, and “the internet of things” as it was called then was just beginning to blossom. I began to fill my home with all the things I dreamed of as a kid— music that played throughout the house, buttons that could control lots of lights and scenes, projector screens that magically came down from the ceiling when it was movie time— the stuff you always saw in the movies and TV shows in homes owned by the ultra-rich. I was not wealthy, but I did know how to make it all work. I decided that everyone should have a smart home that turns mundane things into simple and delightful experiences. So, I started Imperia Technologies LLC.
